Hindley Street Country Club, or HSCC, lands at the York Barbican in York on 15 April 2027 with its stage-ready collective lineup. Born in 2017 around bassist and producer Constantine Delo, the project brings together studio musicians accustomed to playing together in live conditions, with that sense of groove and tightness that makes the difference.
Their playground: pop, rock, soul and funk classics, drawn mainly from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, though not shying away from a few more recent titles. HSCC likes to keep recognizable structures, while slipping in light rearrangements where it breathes more freely: keyboards at the forefront, melodic guitars, a well-rounded rhythm section, sometimes augmented by horns.
Another hallmark of the collective: the regular rotation of guest singers, who change the color of a track from one to the next and give the set a moving, almost session-like feel throughout. A concert conceived as a series of covers performed with the efficiency and flexibility of a studio group, but with the energy of a real touring band.
