We Are Scientists arrive at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle upon Tyne on October 6, 2026, with their dry, nervy indie rock built for the stage. Born in the late 1990s between Berkeley and New York around Keith Murray and Chris Cain, the band has kept that taste for short songs, taut guitars, and prominent basslines, somewhere between post-punk revival and power pop.
Broke out in the mid-2000s with With Love and Squalor, We Are Scientists went on to release a string of albums without losing their sense of efficiency, from Brain Thrust Mastery and Barbara to more recent releases that push songwriting toward more pop-oriented formats while keeping the rock backbone. Expect a straight-ahead set, built around catchy choruses and a compact energy, mixing classics with tracks from the band's recent albums such as Lobes and Qualifying Miles.
