Microwave and Free Throw share the bill for a Vancouver date on October 26, 2026, at The Pearl, with Carly Cosgrove opening. Born in Atlanta, Microwave has been tracing a taut line since the early 2010s between emo, alternative rock and post-hardcore. Centered around the vocals and guitars of Nathan Hardy, the band plays on contrasts: vulnerable verses, abrasive crescendos, and more atmospheric interludes. From Stovall to Much Love, then Death Is a Warm Blanket, their writing remains driven by the intimate, with that mix of nervous energy and melodies that sticks in the gut. On the Nashville side, Free Throw sits in a direct emo/pop-punk vein, led by Cory Castro. Formed in 2012, the band moves forward with personal songs, tense riffs and a refrain that never lets go. From Those Days Are Gone to Lessons That We Swear to Keep, they explore themes of coming of age, cracks and everyday struggles, without losing the DIY energy that follows them on tour.
