Magnum announce "The Next Chapter" — honouring the legacy of Tony Clarkin and marking over 50 years of music.
British rock band Magnum are entering a new era as they continue to honour the legacy of their late founder, guitarist, and songwriter Tony Clarkin, who passed away last year.
With a career spanning more than five decades, Magnum are known for their melodic power, rich storytelling, and dedication to their craft. Following Tony’s passing, the band paid tribute to his life and work with performances titled "The Passage in Time" — a two-hour set of some of Tony’s compositions.
The shows, performed by Bob Catley, Rick Benton, Lee Morris, Dennis Ward, and Brendon Riley (who stepped into Tony’s role on stage), were met with support from fans and the rock community. The shared sense of remembrance reaffirmed the band’s belief that Tony’s music — and the spirit of Magnum — should continue.
In the wake of these tributes, Dionne Clarkin, Tony’s daughter, began exploring over three decades of Magnum’s archives. Her journey uncovered material — from early drafts and lyric notes that reveal the evolution of some Magnum songs, to four fully completed, previously unheard tracks from Tony’s final years.
This discovery marks the beginning of a new chapter for Magnum — one that celebrates the band’s past while looking to the future.
"The support from fans has been strong," said the band. "Tony’s music has always been at the heart of Magnum, and with Dionne’s dedication and the response from the shows, we know the story isn’t over. This is the next chapter — for Tony, for Magnum, and for everyone who has been part of this journey."
Magnum are now preparing to share this next chapter with fans around the world, continuing the band’s legacy.
