Info
Soulfly and Nailbomb share the bill at Manchester Academy in Manchester on 7 September 2026. Two facets of Max Cavalera’s world on the same night, two ways of pushing heavy music where groove and abrasion meet.
Formed in Phoenix in 1997 after Cavalera left Sepultura, Soulfly has built a mutable frame around him, mixing groove metal, thrash and death accents with a steady pulse of tribal percussion and hints drawn from traditional music. On stage, the band moves between thick, locking riffs, massive rhythms and more spacious or atmospheric passages, a balance that has shaped its albums from the late 90s to Totem in 2022. The line-up has shifted over the years, but the identity stays tight and percussive, with that raw, rhythmic drive at the core.
Nailbomb began in 1993 as a collaboration between Cavalera and Alex Newport (Fudge Tunnel), a direct hit of industrial-thrash cut with crust and sludge textures. The project left a mark with Point Blank in 1994 and a live document the following year, then went dormant. Revived in 2024 by Max alongside Igor Amadeus Cavalera, it keeps the harsh, mechanical edge and the blunt, confrontational format: heavy rhythms, metallic noise and riffs that sprint rather than sprawl.
