Info
On 18 December 2026 at Vega in Copenhagen, The Ocean brings its Berlin-bred post-metal to the stage. Founded by guitarist Robin Staps, the group, often referred to as The Ocean Collective, folds progressive structures and avant-garde textures into a sound that shifts between dense, heavy surges and wide, atmospheric passages. Their discography navigates big narrative arcs, from Precambrian layers to the oceanic descent of Pelagial, through the Phanerozoic diptych mapping Earth’s eras. With Holocene (2023), the band tightened its writing and let electronic elements breathe more clearly, a direction that now feeds a live set built on contrast, balance and tension.
Sharing the bill, Hypno5e from Montpellier pursues a cinematic strain of metal where long-form compositions hinge on sudden dynamic breaks and immersive ambience. Led by Emmanuel Jessua, the quartet alternates polyrhythmic weight with clear melodies, spoken fragments and acoustic relief, an approach that echoed on the folk-tinged Alba – Les Ombres Errantes before deepening across A Distant (Dark) Source and Sheol. On stage, Hypno5e leans into contrast as a language, moving from saturated storms to aerial textures and orchestral breath.
