Info
On September 25, 2026, Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver hosts Hermanos Gutiérrez, the Zurich duo of brothers Alejandro and Estevan whose twin guitars speak in lean, reverb-soaked phrases. Swiss-Ecuadorian roots shape instrumentals that drift between twilight western moods, echoes of Latin America, slow surf and touches of americana. Since their self-released debut 8 Años (2017), they’ve honed a focused palette across El Camino de mi Alma, Hoy como Ayer and Hijos del Sol, then widened the lens on Alegría and El Bueno y El Malo (2022), recorded with producer Dan Auerbach. On stage, their dialogue is all about space, restraint and unhurried lines.
Y La Bamba, led by Luz Elena Mendoza from Portland, brings a bilingual approach that folds English and Spanish into indie folk and Mexican forms like ranchera, corrido, bolero and huapango. First a lo-fi folk project, it grew into a flexible band built on close harmonies, experimental textures and a broader rhythmic drive. From Ojos Del Sol (2016) to Mujeres (2019) and Lucha (2023), Y La Bamba explores heritage and movement across borders with songs that balance intimacy and collective momentum.
