Nick Hakim plays The Mod Club in Toronto on September 23, 2026. Washington, D.C.–born and now based in New York, he writes at the junction of neo-soul, psychedelic soul and dreamy R&B. Raised in a Chilean and Peruvian family, he sang in church before Berklee, then introduced his intimate songs with the 2014 EPs Where Will We Go, Parts I & II. Green Twins (2017) sketched slow-burn grooves and blurred textures; Will This Make Me Good (2020) opened to collage-like production and inward moods. Close to New York’s jazz-soul scene, he recorded Small Things (2021) with Roy Nathanson and Onyx Collective, and pushed a lighter, organic touch on Cometa (2022). On stage, supple vocals and hazy arrangements leave room for space and drift, with an improvisational streak that echoes collaborations with Terence Nance, Erykah Badu, Lil Yachty and Adrianne Lenker.
