Based in the Paris suburbs, James Baker is making his mark on the French indie scene with a project conceived as a unified whole, where everything starts from writing. Self-taught, he wears multiple hats as writer, composer, performer and producer, and builds a sound that blends indie pop, alternative rock, electro and touches of rap, without boundaries. For him, image matters as much as the music: his cinephilia informs the atmospheres, the way he dissects emotions, and this sense of narrative conveyed in successive scenes.
With Romy Rose, his conceptual cycle inspired by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, James Baker unfolds melancholic, electronic pop, carried by a fragmented narration, almost like a sequence of interior scenes. There he explores memory, the desire to erase, denial, love, identity, and what remains after. He will perform on November 28, 2026 at Paul B in Massy.
