Birds on a Wire

Birds on a Wire brings together the Franco‑American voice of Rosemary Standley, known for her work with Moriarty, and the cello of Brazilian singer‑instrumentalist Dom La Nena. Together they cultivate an art of reinterpretation in chiaroscuro, situated somewhere between chamber folk, chanson and pop, with a taste for linking eras and languages. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to Anglophone traditions, including songs by Barbara, The Cure, Bronski Beat, The Doors and Stefano Landi, rearranged into pared‑down versions that allow the lyrics and melodies to breathe.

After Ramages in 2020, Nuées Ardentes in 2025 continues along this path around the theme of adolescence, featuring finely wrought vocal and acoustic arrangements. On stage, the duo plays on the intimacy of voice and cello, the intertwining of timbres and a sense of musical storytelling that creates a dialogue between theatre and concert.
