Soweto Gospel Choir - Pou Zot !

The Soweto Gospel Choir arrives at the Bourse du Travail in Lyon on 16 December 2026 with Pou Zot!, a concert focused on the collective power of its voices and a repertoire that spans South African gospel, African‑American spirituals, touches of reggae and choral reworkings of pop covers. Founded in Soweto in 2002 around David Mulovhedzi and Beverly Bryer, the ensemble brings together more than thirty singers who deliver a vibrant, precise and generous sound, shaped by two decades on the international stage.

Over the years the choir has stood out from the 46664 concert associated with Nelson Mandela to Live Earth, and has taken part in landmark moments such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup draw in Cape Town. On record, from Voices from Heaven and Blessed to Freedom and Hope, and up to History of House in 2024 with Latroit and Groove Terminator, their path builds a bridge between tradition and contemporaneity. Their voices have also been heard alongside Peter Gabriel and Christopher Tin, and on a tribute to Fats Domino. With Pou Zot!, they bring these influences together in a dense, luminous choral set designed to resonate in the concert hall.
