Info
On July 29, 2026, at the Sunset Sunside in Paris, the meeting between Anne Sila and the Alex Terrier Quintet plays out on common ground: a taste for melodic singing and precise acoustic arrangements. With a supple voice and clear phrasing, Anne Sila moves between chanson, pop, jazz and soul, with the cello as her anchor. Trained at the conservatory and having made her way through the New York scene, she has crossed paths with musicians such as Ari Hoenig, Mike Stern and Lew Soloff. On stage she favors a balance between lyrics, timbre and breath—a way of placing the voice that relies on spare writing and subtle nuances.
Facing her, the Alex Terrier Quintet—saxophonist and composer Alex Terrier, born in Paris and based in New York—shapes a rhythmic and harmonic frame nourished by Ellington and bop, with an approach to orchestration inherited as much from big bands as from a classical culture. A Berklee graduate, Terrier develops a style rooted in swing, attentive to form and color, where the saxophone lines are woven into a close dialogue with the rhythm section. Together they sketch a repertoire in which voice and saxophone respond to one another, between sung lines and instrumental motifs, carried by a quintet crafted for musical conversation.
