Info
Republica head to The Adrian Flux Waterfront in Norwich on 7 November 2026. Born in the thick of mid‑90s UK guitar culture but tuned to an ’80s indie‑dance pulse, the band shaped its sound around Saffron’s upfront vocals and the synth/beat engine of Tim Dorney and Andy Todd. Before fronting Republica, Saffron cut her teeth with club fixtures N‑Joi and The Shamen and worked with Jah Wobble, a path that fed into the group’s knack for tight hooks and rhythmic drive.
Signed by Deconstruction, Republica’s self‑titled debut carried “Ready to Go,” a single that broke in the UK and reached the US alternative Top Ten in 1996. The follow‑up, Speed Ballads (1998), stayed on British shores, but the blueprint was clear: tense guitars, programmed drums, and pop melodies that nod to Pet Shop Boys and New Order without losing bite.
On stage today, Republica play that hybrid straight: punchy riffs, clipped electronics and Saffron’s direct delivery up front. Expect a set that connects the hits to their club‑leaning roots, with the band’s indie‑dance backbone giving every chorus a clean line to the crowd.
