On 20 January 2027 at the O2 Institute Birmingham, Wage War and Invent Animate dispense with subtlety and go straight for impact. Two visions of modern metalcore, the same taste for contrast and tension.
Wage War, formed in 2010 in Ocala, Florida, established themselves as a five-piece, alternating clean vocals and screams, massive riffs and more melodic choruses. From Blueprints and Deadweight to Pressure, Manic and then Stigma in 2024, the band has broadened its songwriting without giving up the weight of the guitars or the energy of the breakdowns. On stage, their blend of melodic metalcore, post-hardcore and hard rock lands directly, with rhythmic tensions and choruses that hook without artifice.
Invent Animate, born in 2011 in Port Neches, Texas, shifts toward progressive metalcore with technical structures and airy textures. Carried by Trey Celaya, Caleb Sherraden and Swedish vocalist Marcus Vik, the band navigates between djent syncopations, finely carved guitar harmonies and suspended passages. From the early Everchanger and Stillworld days to Greyview, the EP The Sun Sleeps and Heavener in 2023, their sound unites density, precision and carefully worked atmospheres, crafted for a set that alternates clashes and respites.
