Info
On 14 November 2026 De Staat will play the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham. The Nijmegen band, led by singer-guitarist Torre Florim, marries angular guitars to a propulsive bass and choral vocals that run alongside a dance- and post-punk pulse. From Wait for Evolution, via Machinery, I_CON and O, up to Bubble Gum, their sound has shifted toward more synths without losing the tight group feel. Live it’s about groove, repetition and tension: patterns pile up, choruses are worked out in call-and-response, and breaks cut everything sharply. The result is a set that puts rhythm front and center and lets songs breathe between compact and hypnotic.
Hiqpy opens the evening. The Amsterdam four-piece — Abir Hamam, Victor ter Veld, Tom Radsma and Kasper de Boer — moves between indie and alt-rock, with echoes of grunge, shoegaze and lo-fi. Thick guitar tones and direct melodies define the lines, while the dynamics shift between accessible hooks and a rougher edge. Since Popronde 2023 the band has built a strong live profile with club and festival shows, followed by the live release Slachthuis Sessions and the single "Something." In Nottingham Hiqpy continues that trajectory with a set focused on building tension and on the song.
