Andrea von Kampen

Andrea von Kampen brings her intimate folk songwriting to The Folklore Rooms in Brighton and Hove on 14 August 2026. A Nebraska-based artist, she draws on the open skies of the Great Plains, pairing fingerpicked guitar with warm acoustic textures and clear, unadorned vocals. Her lyrics linger on connection — to the natural world, to one another, to the small moments that shape a life. Early attention came with an NPR Tiny Desk mention in 2016, followed by Old Country in 2019, a debut album that sketched her quiet, poetic lane on the contemporary folk map, alongside releases on Fantasy Records and more than 60 million streams.

On stage, von Kampen threads reflective storytelling with fresh material from Before I Buy a Gun, a 2025 EP that pushes back against rising hate in public life and leans toward justice, solidarity and care. The result is a set that favors detail, space and melody over volume, carried by a calm presence. She has played Newport Folk, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival and 30A, and shared tours with The Tallest Man on Earth, Punch Brothers, Watchhouse, Trampled by Turtles, The Wood Brothers, Darlingside, Avi Kaplan, Leif Vollebekk and Tall Heights.
