Anna von Hausswolff

Anna von Hausswolff plays The Fleece, Bristol, on 9 November 2026. The Swedish singer, composer and organist emerged from Gothenburg’s independent scene and has carved a body of work where voice and organ hold the center. Long, sustained textures, drones and measured pulses give her songs a liturgical shade while opening onto atmospheric pop, slow-burn rock and dark ambient.

Live, she lets pieces evolve through repetition and tension, shifting from bare melodic lines to dense, resonant layers. Her path runs from the intimate folk contours of Singing from the Grave (2010) to Ceremony (2012), where the organ steps forward, then to the expansive forms of The Miraculous (2015) and Dead Magic (2018), often brushing against post-rock and heavier currents. All Thoughts Fly (2020) strips everything back to organ minimalism, where harmonics and overtones do the talking. In Bristol, she draws across these chapters for a set that mixes songs and instrumentals, with timbre, space and dynamics guiding the narrative.
