Death Cab for Cutie play Troxy in London on 26 September 2026. Formed in 1997 in Bellingham around singer and guitarist Ben Gibbard, the band has built an indie rock language of melodic guitars, discreet keys and plain‑spoken storytelling. From early lo‑fi beginnings to a catalogue that runs through Something About Airplanes and We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes, into Transatlanticism, Plans, Narrow Stairs and the recent Asphalt Meadows, they trace a clear line between intimacy and expansion. Their songwriting leans into ‘80s alternative and Northwest indie—echoes of The Smiths, The Cure, Sunny Day Real Estate, Elliott Smith, Modest Mouse and Built to Spill—while keeping a direct, accessible core.
Pool Kids open the night. The Tallahassee quartet folds emo and math rock into tight, tuneful structures, led by Christine Goodwyne’s voice and guitar. After the 2018 debut, a self‑titled album in 2022 and Easier Said Than Done in 2025, their live set threads angular riffs, intricate rhythms and clean melodies.
