Primal Scream: Xtrmntr

Primal Scream bring XTRMNTR to HERE at Outernet in London on 16 September 2026. Formed in Glasgow in 1982 around Bobby Gillespie, the band first carved out a jangle pop and psychedelic sound before folding in club culture and electronics in the early nineties. After Screamadelica’s blend of rock and dance and the filmic pulse of Vanishing Point, XTRMNTR in 2000 pushed their music into a harder frame: electro-rock edges, dub pressure, motorik rhythms and an industrial undertow. It’s a moment where guitars lock into machines, basslines throb against serrated synths, and songs move with a tense, physical groove.

On stage, the current core of Gillespie with Andrew Innes and Darrin Mooney reconnects with that era, steering between live drums and sequenced grind, noise and melody, agitation and release. The set draws on the turn-of-the-century phase while leaving room for cuts that map the band’s wider path, from early indie roots to their shifting, dance-aware identity. A night centered on the impact of XTRMNTR, delivered by a group still fluent in mixing guitars, rhythm and club-shaded electronics.
