Info
Panchiko bring their gauzy indie rock stitched with dream pop, shoegaze haze and lo‑fi textures to Newcastle University Students' Union on Saturday 17 October 2026. Formed in Nottingham in the late 90s by Owain Llewelyn, Andy Wright and John Still, the trio first circulated a handful of ultra-limited CD‑Rs, including the EP D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L and Kicking Cars, where saturated guitars meet discreet electronics and a melancholic vocal line. Those recordings resurfaced years later online, prompting reissues and a quiet revival that led the band back on stage.
Since their return, Panchiko have toured widely and built a live set that connects their early tracks with newer material. Their 2023 album Failed at Math(s) extends that blend of blurred guitar pop and understated synth work, giving the group a more structured repertoire while keeping the lo‑fi grain that defined their beginnings. In Newcastle, Panchiko revisit their catalogue with the focus and fragility that suit these songs, with guests also joining the bill.
