Info

Benjamin Steer brings his British-American-Belgian pop songwriting to The Deaf Institute in Manchester on 30 May 2026. Born out of the DIY ethos that saw him move from covers to his own material while at the University of St Andrews, he unfolds songs that chronicle the transition to adulthood — between desire and doubt, anxiety and the need to stay the course. Tracks like "Be My Love", "Miracle", "Sinner" and "No One Wants To Die Alone" have set the template: melodic pop with indie overtones and contemporary ballads, vocals front and centre, direct choruses. That thread runs through his set today, with spare arrangements that leave room for the songwriting — intimate without effects, attentive to emotional detail. A perfectionist — a trait he links to his OCD without making it a gimmick — Steer maintains a clear, stripped-back approach: immediate hooks and words that carry weight. A concert focused on the essentials, halfway between confession and accessible pop.
