On 6 August 2026, Crystal Palace Bowl, London welcomes Gary Numan, with Ladytron joining the bill. A key figure in British electronic music, Numan moved from the post-punk minimalism of Tubeway Army to the synth-pop pulse of Replicas and The Pleasure Principle, etching songs like Are ‘Friends’ Electric? and Cars into collective memory. His later work leans darker and denser, threading industrial weight and widescreen ambience across Sacrifice, Pure, Splinter, Savage and Intruder. On stage, expect taut electronics, clipped guitars and that unmistakable voice pushing stories of cities, machines and isolation.
Ladytron open a parallel track through the genre. Formed in Liverpool, the group blends synthpop and indietronica with traces of new wave, shoegaze and dream pop. Dual vocals from Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo cut through mechanical rhythms and melodic hooks; Aroyo sometimes sings in Bulgarian. From 604 and Light & Magic through Witching Hour, Velocifero, Gravity the Seducer and up to Time’s Arrow, their set shifts between driven beats and gauzy atmospheres. Together, this lineup draws a line from early synth exploration to a sharp, contemporary electronic sound.
