Info
On 31 July 2026 at Dreamland Margate, Belle and Sebastian revisit the heart of their Glasgow-born indie pop by playing If You’re Feeling Sinister in full. Built around Stuart Murdoch’s songwriting with Stevie Jackson, Chris Geddes, Richard Colburn and Sarah Martin, the record’s quiet melodies, chamber-pop textures and character-driven lyrics take on new contours live. Strings, brass and crisp guitars draw a line to 60s pop and folk, while the band’s detailed, intimate writing keeps the focus on small stories and everyday moments. From Tigermilk to The Boy with the Arab Strap and later forays into brighter production and electronics, their path runs through this 1996 album; here, they foreground its sharp arrangements and gentle pulse.
Saint Etienne join with a London angle shaped by club culture and classic pop. Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs glide between melodic house, synthpop and jangly hooks, from Foxbase Alpha and So Tough to the more organic Good Humor and the ambient shades of Sound of Water. Their taste for cinema, city life and memory frames songs that sit neatly alongside Belle and Sebastian’s narratives, offering a complementary take on British pop songwriting.
