Metropolis Music Presents Liam Bailey

Liam Bailey brings Shadow Town to The Cluny, Newcastle upon Tyne, on 16 September 2026. Nottingham-born and London-based, the singer returns to the core of his songwriting, guided by the voice-forward, stripped setting he shaped with producer Jimmy Hogarth. Recorded in Hogarth’s Hampstead studio, the album favors space over gloss, leaving room for Bailey’s rough-grained tone, patois inflections and a blend of soul, reggae and folk-tinged R&B.

On stage, that palette bends easily: the twang and stomp of Northern Lights, the hushed sway of Gold, and the kind of intimate storytelling that runs through two decades of collaborations and solo work. Hogarth’s ear for broad riffs and subtle textures (he has worked with Anohni, Sia, Maverick Sabre, The 1975 and James Blunt) frames Bailey without boxing him in, echoing his wish to move from soundclash energy to an acoustic stool and back again. The set should lean on Shadow Town while reconnecting with the roots and identity of a third-generation Jamaican-English artist, with arrangements that keep the focus on voice, lyric and atmosphere.
