Info
The Kiffness, aka South African musician and producer David Scott, lands in Liverpool with a set built on nimble sampling, rhythm and a taste for musical collage. After early years in jazz outfits, rock bands and behind the decks, he first shaped The Kiffness as a live project before taking it fully solo. His tracks lean on beat-driven pop and house textures, often constructed from found voices — animals, public speeches, viral fragments turned into hooks that stick. From the EPs Kiff (2014) and Soul Safari (2017) to Cat Jams (2021), he’s refined this concise, melodic approach while collaborating along the way with Matthew Gold, Shortstraw, Samthing Soweto, Macka B or Bilal Göregen.
The project has moved from a South African base to wider visibility with pieces like Ievan Polkka (Cat Cover) in 2020 and They’re Eating The Cats in 2024, without losing its mix of groove, humor and social commentary. Expect a live format that flips snippets into tight arrangements, guided by a musician who knows band interplay as well as club dynamics. The Kiffness plays Arts Club, Liverpool, on 8 May 2026.
