Info
Four decades after their debut, Wet Wet Wet celebrate Popped In Souled Out at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on 15 October 2027. Formed in Clydebank near Glasgow in the early 80s, the band found its place with a blend of soul-leaning pop, orchestral ballads and radio-friendly rock. Their first album in 1987 set the tone for a run that took them from The Memphis Sessions and Holding Back the River to High on the Happy Side, with a wider breakthrough via their version of Love Is All Around for Four Weddings and a Funeral. After a long pause, Wet Wet Wet returned to touring and recording into the 2000s and 2010s, adding The Journey in 2021 to a catalogue built on strong melodies and polished arrangements. This anniversary show leans into that heritage, revisiting the debut while reaching across their later chapters.
Support comes from Rebecca Ferguson. The Liverpool singer first came to notice in 2010 before carving out a path of her own, mixing soul-pop with shades of R&B, blues, gospel and touches of jazz. Albums like Heaven, Freedom, Lady Sings the Blues, Superwoman and Heaven Part II trace a consistent line: intimate songwriting set against contemporary soul production. On stage she brings that material in a modern soul register that complements the night’s focus.
