Heaven 17 bring their 1981 statement Penthouse and Pavement back to the stage, performed live by Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware. On 14 October 2026 at O2 Ritz Manchester, the Sheffield outfit revisit the record that marked their shift from post–Human League experiments to a tight blend of synth programming, funk basslines and crisp pop melodies. The set dives into the album’s mix of sharp social commentary and dancefloor-driven hooks, from the title track to the early charge of (We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang.
Formed in 1980 around British Electric Foundation, Heaven 17 built a synthpop vocabulary with new wave edges and a soul undercurrent. On stage, the duo sharpen those textures, letting the grooves breathe without losing their cool precision. Centered on Penthouse and Pavement, this date reconnects the group’s machine rhythm and human touch, tracing a line to what followed on The Luxury Gap and How Men Are. Support to open.
