Info

Madness bring their Camden Town blend of ska, pop and new wave to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in Scarborough on 6 June 2026. Formed around Suggs, Mike Barson, Lee Thompson, Chris Foreman, Dan Woodgate, Mark Bedford and Chas Smash, the band came up through the 2 Tone movement before steering their writing toward sharper, melodic pop. From One Step Beyond..., Absolutely and 7 to The Rise & Fall and later albums like The Liberty of Norton Folgate, Oui Oui, Si Si, Ja Ja, Da Da, Can’t Touch Us Now and 2023’s Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’est la Vie, their catalogue maps everyday London life over brass-led grooves and clipped rhythms. On stage, they mix early staples with newer cuts, keeping the horns upfront and the pulse tight.

Also on the bill, Hollie Cook extends the reggae continuum with a personal take she calls tropical pop, where airy melodies meet dub-tinged production and a soulful lift shaped by Caribbean heritage. After a stint with The Slits, she stepped out solo with her self-titled debut (2011), followed by Twice (2014), Vessel of Love (2018) and Happy Hour (2022), refining richer arrangements and a clear, unhurried flow. Her set brings lilting rhythms and relaxed textures that sit naturally alongside Madness’s ska roots.
