On 3 July 2026 at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Neil Young and Elvis Costello share the bill for an evening centered on songwriting that has shaped rock and pop in different ways. Two distinct voices, two catalogs that speak to each other across decades.
Neil Young first made his mark with Buffalo Springfield before striking out solo, moving between ragged electric workouts and hushed folk. From Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere to Harvest and After the Gold Rush, his guitar work stays raw and melodic, the harmonica lines cut through, and a grainy voice carries stories of roads taken, doubt and resolve. On stage, he can turn a whisper into a storm and then back again, letting the songs breathe without fuss.
Elvis Costello came up through the late 70s pub rock and new wave scenes with My Aim Is True, then pushed wider on This Year’s Model and Armed Forces. Restless and curious, he folded soul, country and orchestral pop into sharp, tightly written songs, from his years with The Attractions and The Imposters to his writing with Burt Bacharach. Live, those hooks and turns of phrase land with precision.
The evening moves between taut grooves and stripped-back confession, trading melodies and lived-in craft in a setting built for listening.
