Jon Batiste

On July 7, 2026 at the Salle des Étoiles, Sporting Monte-Carlo, Jon Batiste returned to fundamentals: live performance as his playground. A pianist, singer and composer trained at Juilliard and rooted in New Orleans (NOLA), he threads a line between jazz, soul, R&B, pop and gospel impulses. On stage, his trademark is the constant back-and-forth between piano and audience, a collective sense of groove inherited from his years with Stay Human and honed as musical director of the Late Show until 2022.

Batiste draws from a wide repertoire, from haunted ballads to more percussive sequences in which the NOLA pulse surfaces beneath jazz harmonies. You encounter the colors of “Hollywood Africans,” the unifying writing of WE ARE, the cosmopolitan flashes of World Music Radio, and his knack for creating atmospheres that can shift without warning from intimate to communal. With a supple voice, agile piano touch and a feel for collective singing, he arranges his numbers into narrative sequences: he slips in a cover, opens the space to improvisation, then tightens things back up.

A composer for film (Soul) and a craftsman of stage and studio, he delivered in Monaco a concert designed for exchange, where each piece acted as a bridge between heritage and the present.
