Judith Hill

Judith Hill, born in Los Angeles and raised in a family of professionals, has transformed her musical foundation in gospel and piano into her own blend of soul, R&B and funk. For years she performed on major stages as a backing vocalist, including with Michael Jackson, and came into the spotlight through 20 Feet from Stardom and The Voice. Her intensive period with Prince, both in the studio and on tour, further honed her songwriting and musicianship. On 20 October 2026 she will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen with a set that clearly reveals her trajectory as a singer, songwriter and arranger. On stage the songs acquire a direct, live sound: layered backing vocals, grooves that nod to ’70s funk and contemporary R&B, and plenty of space for the voice. Tracks from Back in Time, Golden Child and Baby, I’m Hollywood! sit effortlessly alongside more recent material; narratives run through the songs, from intimate ballads to more tightly arranged passages. The interplay between keyboards, guitar and the rhythm section holds the tension, with harmonies that lean into the band’s energy and a distinct signature that blurs the lines between soul, pop and jazz.
