Devin Townsend

On 20 September 2026 Devin Townsend brings his expansive sonic universe to the Volkshaus Zürich. The Canadian multi-instrumentalist and producer from Vancouver has been blurring the lines between metal and rock since the '90s, from extreme to atmospheric. First known as the voice alongside Steve Vai, he established a dense, industrial heaviness with Strapping Young Lad before his solo albums—such as Ocean Machine: Biomech, Infinity and Terria—opened things up: walls of sound, melodies, progressive arrangements and a vocal approach that effortlessly shifts from screams to clear singing.

He later pushed his versatility further with The Devin Townsend Band and the Devin Townsend Project, expanded his palette with Ki, Ghost, Deconstruction, Epicloud and Transcendence, and explored a quieter, more suspended territory with Casualties of Cool alongside Ché Aimee Dorval. Recently, Empath, Lightwork and PowerNerd have marked new chapters.

Live, Townsend condenses all of this into a set that swings between massive energy and wide, airy spaces. Layers of guitars, synths, choirs, precision and playful drive: a journey through three decades of creativity — onstage and charged with the intensity of an evening.
