Assassin is a French hip‑hop group, founded in Paris in the mid‑1980s and led by Rockin’ Squat, a prominent figure of politically engaged rap in France. From the start the group has championed a conscious, free-form hip‑hop, with uncompromising lyrics, committed messages and artistic freedom.
Assassin was the first French rap group to earn a gold record as an independent act, producing and distributing its music through its own label, Assassin Productions. The group became a reference point for this culture in France and internationally. With over one million albums sold, Assassin has influenced several generations of artists.
In 2026 the group released a new album and embarked on a tour, remaining faithful to its activist and creative DNA.
Assassin will perform on 18 February 2027 at 7:00 PM at the Big Band Café.
