Les musiques de John Williams et Hans Zimmer

The music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in symphonic concert returns in February and March 2027. On 19 February 2027 at 7:00 PM at the Zénith d'Auvergne, Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean will be performed by more than 70 musicians on stage. Under the baton of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra, a French symphonic orchestra specializing in film music, will play works by both composers.

John Williams made his mark on film music from the 1970s. The regular composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, he wrote the scores for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws and Indiana Jones. Winner of 5 Academy Awards and nominated 54 times, his work spans generations.

Hans Zimmer, a German-born composer who became a naturalized American, renewed the conventions of film music by combining orchestral writing with electronic sounds. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left a strong mark on contemporary cinema. Awarded 2 Academy Awards, he is the author of numerous film scores.

The concert lasts nearly two hours. The music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams will be performed by the Yellow Socks Orchestra under the direction of Nicolas Simon; the composers will not be present on stage.

Nicolas Simon is the musical director of the Yellow Socks Orchestra, principal conductor of the Orchestre de Caen since September 2020, founder and artistic director of Symphonie de Poche and Philharmonicoeur, associate conductor of the Orchestre Les Siècles and conductor of the Démos project.

Created in 2015 by the production company uGo&Play, the Yellow Socks Orchestra is a French symphonic orchestra specialized in film music and placed under the musical direction of Nicolas Simon. Its name refers to the yellow socks worn by the musicians. The orchestra takes part in numerous cine-concerts in France, including Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, La La Land, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter saga. Under the direction of Joe Hisaishi, it has recently performed music from Hayao Miyazaki’s universe (Studio Ghibli).
