Info

Fatoumata Diawara brings a luminous energy to the stage and a voice that carries far. In Bambara, she sings of wounds and joys, supported by grooves that blend Wassoulou roots, Mandingue blues, soul and electronic touches. With her guitar slung over her shoulder, she leads the lead and backing vocals, elevates the percussion and creates a collective swing that carries everyone along. Free and forthright, she turns intimate trials into songs that speak to all, addressing excision, forced marriage, exile and identity, and charts a path where resistance rhymes with dance. Her journey has taken her from African stages to the studios of artists such as Oumou Sangaré, Damon Albarn, Gorillaz and Matthieu Chedid, without losing the thread of clear songwriting and a stage presence full of depth. She will appear on 7 November 2026 at the Espace culturel Jacques Brel in Mantes-la-Ville for a set in which voice, melody and rhythm respond to one another with a simple, contagious intensity.
