The Lemonheads

The Lemonheads are coming to the Fabrik in Hamburg on 20 October 2026. On board: Love Chant, the first studio album in almost two decades, released in 2025 — written across continents and largely recorded in São Paulo, where Evan Dando lives today. The album brings together fresh impulses and familiar signatures, with contributions from J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan, Bryce Goggin, Erin Rae and Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond). Musically it ranges from the direct hooks of Deep End through the floating calm of The Key of Victory to the forward-driving title track.

Formed in 1986 in Boston, The Lemonheads traced a path from punk-soaked college rock to melodic alternative rock. It’s a Shame About Ray (1992) and Come On Feel The Lemonheads (1993) revealed Dando’s knack for catchy, edgy songs, while revolving line-ups always centered on his songwriting. After a break came a solo excursion, a return with the self-titled album (2006) and two cover collections, Varshons (2009) and Varshons 2 (2019). With Love Chant, The Lemonheads pick up that thread again today — energetic guitars, clear melodies, nuanced lyrics. That artists such as Courtney Barnett, Waxahatchee, Phoebe Bridgers and MJ Lenderman refer to them shows how firmly that thread reaches into the present.
