Info
Mercury Rev will perform in Madrid on October 7, 2026, at Sala Lab/Wagon, Chamartín Station. Formed in the late 1980s in Buffalo, the band led by Jonathan Donahue and Grasshopper moved from the experimentalism bordering on noise rock on Yerself Is Steam and Boces toward a psychedelic, orchestral pop beginning with See You on the Other Side. With Deserter’s Songs and All Is Dream they consolidated a language of high-pitched vocals, ethereal guitars and string and brass arrangements, typically produced by David Fridmann and characterized by a taste for cinematic textures.
In concert the group usually rearranges its repertoire: ballads that build in layers, psychedelic episodes and a folk thread that runs through The Secret Migration, Snowflake Midnight and The Light in You, alongside forays into their reinterpretations of Bobbie Gentry’s The Delta Sweete Revisited. Between expansive atmospheres and contained dynamics, the set travels through different stages of their catalogue without breaking continuity.
