On September 15, 2026 at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford, Lyle Lovett brings his Small Large Band for a set that threads Texas songwriting with swing and open arrangements. Born in Houston and raised in Klein, he came up on the Texas songwriter circuit before Nashville widened his reach. His catalog moves between country, folk, western swing, blues, jazz and gospel, with observational lyrics and a voice that shifts from intimate to bright and clear.
With the Small Large Band, he revisits the palette introduced on Lyle Lovett and His Large Band: horns in conversation with guitars, a rhythm section that can shuffle or stroll, room for ballads and for the snap of swing. The set pulls from early records through 12th of June, rearranged to let the ensemble breathe and then tighten. Stories stay at the center, the groove adjusting around them, carried by Lovett’s sense of melody and timing.
