Mariza will be at Amphithéâtre 3000 in Lyon on 10 January 2027. Born in Maputo and raised in Lisbon’s Mouraria neighborhood, she shaped her voice in the casas de fado before contributing to the genre’s revival in the early 2000s. From Fado em Mim to Mundo, via Fado Curvo, Transparente, Terra and Fado Tradicional, she draws a clear line between Lisbon tradition and contemporary arrangements, open to Lusophone and Mediterranean influences. On stage, she alternates between classic fados, original compositions and reinterpretations, placing text and melody at the forefront. Her full-bodied voice, careful phrasing and nuanced delivery anchor each piece in the language of fado, whether presented in a spare setting or with more orchestrated textures. This concert will also echo her tribute to Amália Rodrigues with Mariza canta Amália, offering an immersion in the themes that run through fado—memory, desire and presence in the world.
