Mélissa Laveaux

Mélissa Laveaux will be appearing at La Nef in Angoulême on November 21, 2026. A singer-songwriter born in Canada and based in France since 2008, she has shaped a personal folk style nourished by intimate stories. She first came to notice with Camphor and Copper, her debut album released on No Format!, and then sharpened her voice and the contours of her songwriting on 2013’s Dying Is a Wild Night. Her songs tell of families we leave or reunite with, of departures and returns, delivered with a very direct, forthright way with words.

On stage, Mélissa Laveaux presents a repertoire drawn from those records and from more recent material, with clear songwriting and melodies that linger without excess. The set unfolds like a conversation, where each piece finds its own space and tempo. Between gentle tensions and more urgent impulses, she traces a simple, precise path, faithful to the spirit of folk and attentive to the lyrics. An evening to experience her world up close through the songs.
