Souad Massi returns with a repertoire that blends folk, rock and Arabic-language blues, carried by clear and unflinching songwriting. A Franco-Algerian singer-songwriter, she grounds her songs in the real, between intimate narratives and social observation, in Arabic, French and Berber. Her soft, direct voice provides the through line, while guitars and percussion create a hushed tension where poetry has its place.
With Zagate, her new album, she brings together eleven tracks that question the times without sacrificing melody. It includes her folk ballads, more electric pulses, echoes of chaâbi and Mediterranean hues. On stage, she alternates confidences and more rhythmic surges, letting the lyrics breathe and playing on the group’s dynamics and the immediacy of the vocal delivery. A concert conceived as a sober, precise journey, where each piece finds its own space.
