Soviet Suprem and the trio of the Ziad brothers with Mehdi Nassouli break the codes and cross borders on Thursday, July 9 as part of the Cabaret Sauvage Summer Festival.
• Soviet Suprem
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Soviet Suprem is back on the campaign trail with a new EP that blends hip‑hop, chanson, electro and acoustic instruments. At a time when nations are turning inward, John Lénine and Sylvester Staline return to basics: breaking down barriers by revisiting the world sound system, from Vladiwoodstock to Bogotá, to celebrate humankind. Faced with clash battles, the new global disorder and while awaiting brighter days, Soviet Suprem continues to unite voices in canon-like harmonies and invites all the peoples of the globe to dance and to sing their new peaceful songs.
• Trio Assala: Karim Ziad, Mehdi Nassouli and Malik Ziad
A leading figure in North African music, Karim Ziad is an Algerian drummer, percussionist and composer renowned for dialoguing contemporary jazz with Maghreb traditions. Born in Algiers and trained between Algeria and France, he has collaborated with artists such as Joe Zawinul, Nguyên Lê, Cheb Mami, and the Orchestre National de Barbès, for which he served as one of the artistic directors. Alongside him, Mehdi Nassouli, a Moroccan artist and master of the guembri (the three‑stringed bass lute), embodies the spiritual and rhythmic force of Gnawa music. An heir to an ancestral tradition, he explores all its nuances, blending trance, song and rhythms rooted in sub‑Saharan Africa. Malik Ziad on banjo enriches this musical encounter. A dialogue of jazz rhythms, gnawa, chaâbi and North African sonorities to be discovered at the Summer Festival.
