Argentine band Kumbia Queers arrive in Bilbao for a night of dancing, punk attitude and cumbia. On September 11 they will perform on the Kafe Antzokia stage with their blend of cumbia villera, punk guitars and tropical energy.
Formed in Buenos Aires in 2007 by members of the punk scene, Kumbia Queers reinvented cumbia from a queer, celebratory perspective. Their style, which they describe as “Tropi Punk,” combines Afro‑Caribbean and Latin American rhythms with the rawness of DIY rock, creating a distinctive sound.
With more than 15 years of experience and tours across the Americas, Europe and the United States, the band puts on shows that mix original songs, covers and tracks from their latest album, all geared toward communal dancing.
