Oval: Anamanaguchi

Anamanaguchi arrives at Sala B in Madrid on May 24, 2026 to present Anyway (2025), a turn toward alt/indie rock in which the quartet blends its tradition of guitar, bass and drums with new textures and more direct songwriting. Without losing the 8-bit pulse that identifies them, this set looks to the band’s present and to how they weave video-game melodies into full-band energy.

Formed in New York in the mid-2000s, the band began by programming tracks onto Nintendo cartridges. They emerged from the 8-bit scene with Power Supply and Dawn Metropolis, and made their global breakthrough with the soundtrack for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game. That was followed by the release of Endless Fantasy, funded by one of the most high-profile music crowdfunding campaigns, and a sound that has since conversed with electronic pop and indie. Along the way, they’ve collaborated with the vocaloid Hatsune Miku and pursued side projects like the experimental video game Capsule Silence XXIV. In Madrid, the setlist connects this trajectory with their recent material, amid guitar layers, digital lines and the hybrid DNA that defines Anamanaguchi.
