Alborosie, Shengen Clan

On May 6, 2026 at the Rockstore in Montpellier, Alborosie arrives with the Shengen Clan for a roots reggae set designed for the stage. Born Alberto D’Ascola in Sicily, he first made a name for himself in the 1990s with Reggae National Tickets before settling in Jamaica in 2000, where he worked in studios as a sound engineer and honed an aesthetic that blends roots, dub and digital textures. As a solo artist he broke through in 2008 with Soul Pirate, followed the next year by Escape from Babylon, and later released 2 Times Revolution. Along the way he has also been produced by the Tuff Gong label, connected to the Marley legacy. His signature features deep bass, precise horns, an organic groove and a raspy voice delivering conscious lyrics.

On stage, Alborosie performs with the full Shengen Clan lineup: a solid rhythm section and horns that lay down his riddims with clarity. The live show draws from his different eras, alternating roots anthems with more dub-oriented passages, stretched-out versions, breaks and call-and-response moments with the audience.
