Thomas Helmig

On 4 September 2026, Thomas Helmig performs at Marbella Arena (Marbella). A leading figure in Danish pop rock with a penchant for soul, Helmig began as a self-taught player of piano, guitar and drums, and early on absorbed the Detroit school during an exchange in the U.S., which shaped his songwriting: grooves with a Motown flavour and direct pop melodies. On his early records — Thomas (1985), 2 (1986), Kære Maskine (1987) and Vejen Væk (1988) — he established a Danish song format with edgier arrangements and echoes of rhythm and blues. In the 1990s he emphasized the soul side with Rhythm (1992) and began an English-language phase with Say When (1993) and Stupid Man (1994). He later released IsItYouIsItMe (2001), El Camino (2004), Tommy Boy (2006), KH Helmig (2013), Takker (2018) and Sortedam (2024). Live, he mixes Danish classics with English-language songs, alternating ballads and mid-tempo numbers with pop guitars and soulful keys. His work as a songwriter and producer for Danish artists such as Søs Fenger, Hanne Boel and Sanne Salomonsen also shines through, leaving its mark on the way each song is constructed.
