Keziah Jones

Keziah Jones will be at La Boîte à Musiques - BAM in Metz on 13 November 2026. Born in 1968 in Nigeria, he moved to England as a child, soon abandoned his studies for the guitar and honed his craft on the streets and in the clubs of London. In 1992 he released Blufunk Is a Fact, the starting point of an international career. This was followed by African Space Craft in 1995, Liquid Sunshine in 1999, and Black Orpheus in 2003. After years on stage and impromptu sessions, he returned in 2008 with Nigerian Wood, an album shaped by memories and back-and-forth trips between continents.

On stage, Keziah Jones opts for intimacy and effectiveness, guitar to the fore and a clear voice, with that blend of funk, blues and organic rhythms that has defined his identity. The set moves between the standout tracks from his early years and more recent material, carried by a sense of groove that relies as much on percussive playing as on the energy of his singing. No showiness, just the essentials: simple songwriting, an infectious tempo and a stage presence that harks back to his first street performances.
