Mammal Hands

On November 6, 2026, at La Sirène in La Rochelle, Mammal Hands unfolds its label-defying blend of contemporary jazz, minimalism, folk and electronic touches. Built around Jordan Smart (saxophone), Nick Smart (piano) and Rob Turner (drums, formerly of GoGo Penguin), the trio works with cycles, contrasts and breaths—between repetitive piano motifs, lyrical sax lines and tight pulses.

With Circadia, their new album and the first with Rob Turner, the group pushes its sound toward more rhythmically driven architectures, where post‑rock energy converses with acoustic textures and beats drawn from electronic music. The pieces advance in layers, playing with expansion and rupture, and evoke a sense of transformation without losing the melodic focus that has shaped their identity across five albums.

On stage, Mammal Hands favors immersion: cyclical grooves, dynamics that thicken, saxophone flights that open and then contract, and drumming that disrupts and propels. A live show conceived as a flow—accessible, where tension and tenderness answer one another until the final note.
