Black Coffee

On 29 May 2026 at Kozel Carroponte in Sesto San Giovanni, Black Coffee brings a deep house vision sculpted in South Africa’s club culture. Born Nkosinathi Maphumulo, he first emerged with the trio Shana and at the Red Bull Music Academy in Cape Town, before stepping out solo with Black Coffee (2005), Have Another One (2007) and Home Brewed (2009). The live project Africa Rising (2012) and Pieces of Me (2015) expanded his footprint well beyond Durban and Johannesburg, leading to regular tours and long-running stints on international stages. With Subconsciously (2021), he opened dialogues with artists like Drake, David Guetta and Usher while keeping his core language intact.

Behind the decks, his sets lean into slow-burning deep house, built on patient grooves, local percussion patterns and warm, soulful textures. Minimal vocals, crisp drum programming and a steady low end create momentum through repetition rather than breaks. He navigates from lean, hypnotic passages to more vocal-led moments without forcing the pace, letting the room settle into the pulse. It’s a sound shaped for open air as much as for late-night clubs, grounded, uncluttered and focused on movement.
