Nation of Language

Nation of Language will be at Le Bikini in Ramonville-Saint-Agne on 23 June 2026. The New York trio carves out a groove between post-punk and synth-pop, somewhere between cold tension and a very ’80s melodic warmth. Synths rendered in light-and-shadow, hypnotic basslines, drum machines with metronomic precision, and Ian Devaney’s voice that cuts cleanly through the mix: the band presses forward assertively, without frills, with a feel for motifs that raises the pulse without crushing it.

On the bill are songs drawn from Introduction, Presence, A Way Forward and Strange Disciple, reworked for the stage with transitions that push the tempo and dynamics. The arrangements exploit repetition, harmonic slippages and structural ruptures, balancing synthetic coolness with more organic surges. You find that knack for turning urban melancholy into hummable songs, equally suited to dancing or attentive listening. It’s a taut, precise set, where each chorus gains in impact as the room comes alive.
